Vegan Ramen

Plant-based broth crafted from whole vegetables, slow-cooked the same way we make every other broth. Fully vegan, fully flavorful — served at all four LA locations.

What is Vegan Ramen?

Most ramen broths are built on animal stock — pork, chicken, or fish. Vegan ramen replaces that base with a slow-cooked vegetable broth, but the technique stays the same: whole ingredients, hours of simmering, and a finishing tare to bring depth and umami.

At Tatsu Ramen, our Hippie Ramen is a fully vegan bowl. The broth is plant-based, slow-cooked from whole vegetables, then finished with house-made scallion oil, fragrant sweet onion, and a hint of ginger. We serve it with vegan curly noodles topped with fresh spinach. No animal products, no shortcuts — just a different soul.

If you want to go fully vegan with our Naked Ramen (brothless) instead, choose the Vegan and No cheese options at order time. All four LA locations carry the same vegan bowls.

Vegan Ramen FAQ

Is Hippie Ramen actually vegan?

Yes. Our Hippie Ramen is built on a fully plant-based broth and served with vegan curly noodles, fresh spinach, scallion oil, sweet onion, and ginger. There are no animal products in the bowl as it is served by default. If you want to add cheese topping (a Japanese-style finish we offer) it becomes vegetarian rather than vegan, so skip that one for fully vegan.

Where can I find vegan ramen near me in Los Angeles?

Tatsu Ramen serves the Hippie Ramen — our fully vegan bowl — at all four Los Angeles locations: Melrose, Sawtelle, Pasadena, and Arts District DTLA. Same recipe, same ingredients across every location. Open late for dine-in, pickup, and delivery.

Do you have other vegan options besides ramen?

The Naked Ramen (our brothless bowl) can be ordered vegan by selecting Vegan and No cheese at order time. Our Veggie Fried Rice contains egg so it is vegetarian rather than vegan. Steamed Garlic Edamame and Spicy Edamame are vegan-friendly sides.

Is the broth gluten-free as well?

Our Hippie broth itself can be made gluten-free. We offer rice-flour gluten-free noodles that pair with it. Note that some marinades on shared toppings contain soy sauce with gluten, so let our team know if you need a fully gluten-free build and we will guide you.
